Speaker 1:

Thank you so much for joining us. Welcome to CC Airwaves. Today's episode is unlike any other. It is with heavy hearts that we reflect on the life and legacy of Pope Francis, who has now gone home to our Heavenly Father. As the first Pope from the Americas, the first Jesuit pope, and a man deeply committed to mercy, humility and justice, pope Francis left a lasting mark not just on the church but on the world. Whether his compassion for the poor inspired you, his emphasis on mercy or his quiet courage in facing modern challenges, pope Francis reminded us all what it truly means to live the gospel. Today, we remember honor and pray.

Speaker 1:

Pope Francis was born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, argentina, in 1936. He came from a working-class family and became a Jesuit priest known for his simplicity, deep faith and service to the marginalized. Even before his papacy, he chose to live in a small apartment, cook his own meals and travel by bus. His humility followed him all the way to Rome. When he became Pope in 2013, he stepped out onto the balcony, not to speak first, but to ask for the people's blessing. That moment set the tone for a papacy marked by closeness to the people, especially the poor and suffering. Pope Francis reminded us time and time again that the church is a field hospital for the wounded. His message was clear mercy first. He declared the year of mercy, opened the doors to those who felt far from the church and called on us to meet people where they are. He visited prisons, washed the feet of refugees and embraced the sick. He lived the In a world often divided by politics and fear. Pope Francis constantly reminded us to build bridges, not walls. He called us to care for creation, to protect the poor and to live with compassion. Pope Francis was a voice for the voiceless. He challenged systems of injustice and invited people of all faiths, even those with no faith, to join in dialogue and peace building. He taught us that the church is not an institution of perfection but a community of grace. Though he faced criticism and challenges, he remained true to his calling to shepherd. With humility and courage, his leadership helped renew the church's heart.

Speaker 1:

For me personally, I will never forget when he became pope. I was in grade school at St Francis of Assisi and I remember how excited everyone was that he had chosen the name Francis. It felt like an honor to share the name with the new pope. The energy was contagious. Teachers were smiling, students were talking about it, and even though I was young, I could tell it was really something special. As I grew older and began to learn more about him, I understood why everyone was so moved.

Speaker 1:

His humility, his love for the poor and the way he spoke so openly and gently about mercy and compassion. He made the church feel more welcoming, more human, and he felt like someone who truly walked the path of Christ. And now, as we say goodbye, we entrust him to the loving arms of God. We give thanks to him, his witness and his unwavering hope. Now please join me in praying for Pope Francis. May his legacy live on in our hearts and may we continue to build a church of compassion, justice and peace. Eternal rest grant unto him, o Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace, amen. Thank you for joining me today, and may we carry forward the love Pope Francis so boldly shared Until next time, God bless.
